As a child behaviour therapist with a knne interest in positive psychology my heart sinks when I read open postings like this. Even though I can completely understand the desire to be a parent what is often forgotten is what the child may need or want- or has the right to know, as a human being. The right to know of their biological origins and medical history.
And what do they mean- prepared to do whatever it takes- does that men they are offering free sex for sperm? The risks being horrendous. As well as this being an emotional intrusion and roller coaster for the woman. 'For a whole month' - do they not realise there is only 1 day the woman can get pregnant- and so she needs to know her cycle- to know when she actually can get pregnant? Surely they would be least do their homework in this regard.
No names exchanged? What happens if the child has a genetic disorder and they need his history? How will they be able to find information relevant to a child who is biologically linked to the donor. And how are they to find this man who is happy to share his genes for nothing? No contact- no updates on how the child is doing? Or is that why the free sex is being offered- if we are to interpret the statement correctly?
The woman or couple appear to be only thinking of what they need and want- perhaps they dont want to face the thought of someone else being a part of their child's life- even though that man IS a part of their child forever. Many dont ever even tell the child. Is it because they dont believe the child has the right to know- or doesnt need to know- or is it more about them, the adults, not being threatened with regards to their importance in the child's life? Perhaps they do not recognise how important this may be to the child - growing up- and as an adult? Maybe they do not think that starting a life honestly- and allowing the child to have choices- is important. Or maybe they havent thought of much other than that they want a baby.
Or do you think the child has no right to know- they is doesnt matter- as long as they are loved and well cared for?
